Best Albums of Fall 2021

For the first half of the year, I was a tad bit disappointed with the music being released when compared to the music of 2020, but Summer and Fall quickly changed that!

An Evening with Silk Sonic- Silk Sonic

This will be the third time I've mentioned this album on this blog this week and it's all for good reason because it's amazing. You can check out my review here. No surprise that Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak did an amazing job capturing the 70's vibe with modern appeal. Add in Bootsy Collins and Thundercat, and you've got a recipe for an instant classic.

Standout Track: After Last Night featuring Thundercat

If you like James Brown or Sly & the Family Stone, you will love this album.

Self Titled- My Morning Jacket

My Morning Jacket is in the middle of a huge career renaissance the past couple of years with the release of The Waterfall II in 2020, a massive tour this year (which was incredible), and their newly released self titled album last month. The band is a bit slower than their previous work and leans a little bit more into a jam band aesthetic, but Jim James angelic voice and beautiful song writing are as sharp as ever.

Standout track: Love, Love, Love

If you like Dr. Dog or Band of Horses, you will love this album.

Juno- Remi Wolf

Remi Wolf is one of my top 2021 finds with her viral fame giving rise to her unique voice and non-sensical lyrics that work for some reason. Her debut album, Juno, is bangers front to back and proves she's a pop powerhouse that's here to stay. Killer production work and overall just a ton of fun.

Standout track: Sexy Villain

If you like Goth Babe or Still Woozy, you'll love this album.

Forever- Flight Facilities

I had written in a previous post about how the single "Heavy" from this album has been in constant rotation, but this whole album is worth checking out. Flight Facilities dropped their first album in seven (!!!) years last week and it lived up to the hype. I don't know what's in the water in Australia that produces some of the best music in the world, but I'm happy to group them in here. The light disco-house production with the indie pop vocals are perfection.

Standout track: as mentioned before, "Heavy"

If you like Cut Copy or Miami Horror, you will love this album.
